Delete your Coupledger account & data
Coupledger has no login. Your "account" is your member place in a household (nickname, photo, connected phones). There are three ways to delete it.
1. On a phone with the app (fastest)
- In the app, tap More › Delete account.
- Read, tick and leave. Your nickname, photo and connected phones are deleted from the server at once, and the household copy on this phone is deleted.
- Turn on "Also delete my records" to also delete records, payment methods, savings and accounts, loans, recurring bills and spending goals in your name, plus your comments and seen marks — on the other phone too. "In your name" means the record's "Whose" field is you, whoever typed it in (a record you entered for your partner or as "joint" stays). Leave it off (the default) and amounts stay in the household under "Former member". Joint records and your partner's records stay either way.
- If you are the only one left, this becomes "Delete and leave" and the whole household is deleted from the server.
2. Your phone is gone, but your partner still has theirs
- On your partner's phone: More › Members & invite code → your row → Remove. Your nickname, photo and connected phones are deleted (records stay).
- To delete your records as well: on your partner's phone use Members & invite code › Reconnect phone, enter that code under "I have a new phone" on the first screen of the app on a new phone to get your place back, then leave with way 1.
3. No phone in use at all — the request below
- Use the 8-character invite code you shared when you started or joined the household (it still works after the code changed because you both joined). If someone has since left or been removed, a phone was disconnected, or the code was changed by hand, the old code no longer works — use the code shown on a current member's phone under More › Members & invite code.
- We accept the request only if no phone in that scope has connected for more than 7 days. If a phone is in use, we answer "a phone is in use" and change nothing.
- We wait 7 days; after that the server deletes it automatically in the next early-morning clean-up (daily at 03:30 Korea time · on a day the server is restarted, also once at start-up). If any phone in that scope opens the app in the meantime, the request is cancelled on its own. If we restore the service from a backup, any pending request is rescheduled to 7 days from the day of the restore.
- What is deleted — one member: the same as way 1 with "Also delete my records" on (the whole household if no member is left). Whole household: the household, all members, all records and connected phones.
- No person at our company reviews or handles it. The code and nickname you type are used only to check the request and are not stored.
- Deleted information remains in backups made earlier (server disk about 2 days · encrypted off-site backup at most about 2 years) until they expire. If we ever restore the service from a backup, we delete again the households, members and records deleted since that backup before the service opens (privacy policy, section 6).
